River Otter Genus: Lutra Species: Canadensis
The River Otter adapts to many places such as swamps, thick woods, lakes, rocks, logs and more. The River Otter is 25-30 inches long from its head to its feet. Their tails are 16-18 inches long. They have a body that is long and sleek. Their coat is about 2.5 inches thick. The River Otter has two different types of fur. An outer layer for protection and an inner layer that is more dense. Their back is a deep brown color and their stomach can be a regular brown or it can be grey. You can find their eyes near the top of their head which gives them the ability to see above water while underwater.
